Cooking and Hiking
During this week you will learn how to prepare french specialities like olivecreme, marmalade made of onions, quiches, appetizers, aperitif-wines and others. All in all a journey through the culinary landscapes of southern France. We purchase our ingredients from local markets and producers. You will see, that simplicity and good taste do go hand in hand with each other. All dishes can be prepared by yourself at home. Besides cooking, there is a lot more to discover over here. |

Villages, where the famous templars dwelled, the viaduct of Millau , the caves of Roquefort, caves, which provide the perfect conditions for the regions vines to ripen , vast plateaus of limestone, called causses. Along the path we will see typical rural houses like the "fermes des causses". These places derive their special spirit from a mixture of ancient architecture and the natural diversity. Nature lovers will enjoy rarities of south european flora and fauna like the endemic orchis aveyronensis or the well re-established vultures at their breeding colonies. We will also visit the gorges of the wild "Tarn" river and wander through the local market in Millau. The last evening is reserved for a typical dinner in a "Ferme Auberge". |

After our daily adventures we split up in groups. Each group prepares one meal with several courses for the
whole group. This group gets a good insight in the tastes of the region and
the kitchen work really becomes a little feast if you have a sip of local wine once in a while. The remainder of the group has the opportunity to relax or to go on with the various activities like a bath in the river or kayak trip. The days recipe will not be lost for those, who come home later: Each course will be explaned by the "chief cooks" of the evening. Our "gîte" is an accomodation in a typical rural house built of limestone nearby the Cabrière-Castle in a very nice and quiet natural sourrounding. In the comfortable living-room with a fireplace we will cook and have our meals. The vast terrace and the garden with a great view invite you to relax...... |
